9th ASICS British 10K London Run 12 July 2009

Five of the best for AWB!

Two intrepid Air France-KLM UK Head office employees Romain Kusek and Pedro Costa, and an equally brave runner Jim Lawrie from Spectro-Oil, one of AWB's corporate sponsors, and his two sons Mark and David, ran on behalf of AWB.

AWB's group were running with no fewer than 27,000 other participants who gathered in the summer heat in Central London. Amongst them were Olympic athletes and celebrities from stage and screen. The winner of this year's race was Cyrus N'dereba in 30.19 minutes.

Romain and Pedro completed the course in 44 and 52 minutes respectively, whilst Jim, Mark and David finished with a very respectable 55 minutes. So great credit to them all!!

The race began at 9.30 am by the Hard Rock Café at Piccadilly and, from there, proceeded down Pall Mall to Trafalgar Square, along the Embankment to the City, passing St Paul's and Tower Bridge, and then via the London Eye to Whitehall with the stunning view of Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the London Eye as backdrops. The race then re-entered Parliament Square, passing the new statue of Nelson Mandela before turning into Parliament Street and Whitehall with a straight run to the finish line. This improved route made the course faster for both Olympic athletes and the masses and included a giant finish line stretching across the whole width of Whitehall.

We are delighted to report that Romain, Pedro Jim, Mark and David achieved their shared target of raising over £700 for AWB.

A very big Thank You goes to them from all of us at AWB - for their great efforts in raising funds, and for their interest, support and not least - stamina!

Well done and thank you!
