Airbus ‘Family Day’, Broughton, North Wales, 5 September 2009

Family Fun Day!

In 2009 Airbus celebrated 40 years of innovation. Broughton is the home of the high-tech manufacturing facilities for the production of all wings for the Airbus fleet of aircraft.

AWB was kindly invited by Airbus UK to join thousands of employees and families of Airbus having fun at its ‘Family Day’ by taking a stand in the ‘Community Village’ – a marquee devoted to organisations and charities working in the community.

As always, Amy Bear proved to be an irresistible attraction and once more AWB volunteers were often overwhelmed by attempts by one and all to spin AWB’s ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and win an Amy Bear or other

merchandise! Over £400 was raised during the brief occasion. Amy is certainly fulfilling her role admirably as ambassador for Aviation Without Borders!

Of course the highlights of the day for many were the flying displays – in particular the Beluga and Vulcan, followed by low level passes of the Airbus A380 - and guess who was a VIP guest on that flight! Yes Amy Bear!

Our thanks go to Airbus UK for inviting us, and who had clearly taken a great deal of effort to give friends and family a memorable day.
