Child Escorting

Aviation Without Borders' volunteers escort children requiring urgent medical care to London by air, thus allowing them to undergo state-of-the-art surgery that they wouldn't otherwise be able to receive in their home country. Once recovered the children are again accompanied by an AWB volunteer escort on their return flight home.

AWB works closely with the UK charity Chain of Hope (whose founding patron is the eminent heart surgeon Professor Magdi Yacoub). AWB provides escorting services for children from such countries as Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya. Chain of Hope provides children suffering from heart conditions with the corrective surgery and treatment to which they do not have access to in their home country.

As one AWB volunteer remarked: "The contribution of one child escort may not change the world but it can change the world of one special child."
