Amy Bear

I'm Amy Bear

or just Amy Bear for short, and I am AWB's 'cuddly' ambassador.

I am named Amy after Amy Johnson who was born in Hull, England. She became world famous as an aviation pioneer in the 1930s. Amy broke many long distance flying records to many countries and so her life was truly 'without borders'!

Amy Johnson was a most wonderful lady. As Amy 'Wonderful' Bear I am so proud to be the bear to bear her name!

Do you also realise that my initials, AWB, are the same as the charity of which I am ambassador?

Like Amy Johnson, I too, am passionate about flying and am keen to take to the air at any opportunity. When I was little (I know I am still little, but when I was very little) I was taken to airports to see aeroplanes and to watch flights take-off and land.

Aircraft have fascinated me ever since and I have always been thrilled when going on flights on my holidays. Now, as the 'cuddly' ambassador of Aviation Without Borders, I have the opportunity to take part in many of AWB's activities and hope to see you at some of them.

I'll be keeping you up to date with my adventures so look out for my blogs!

It was fantastic to be invited once again by EADS, AWB’s major supporter, to join the special VIP guests at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on 18 July, 2010.
