A newly formed charity, the foundation has recently been registered in the Irish Republic to help build and support primary schools throughout Kenya. The charity’s first project is St Patrick’s Primary School in Kawese, Machakos County, situated about 150km south of Nairobi.
Till now the Kenyan school had mostly been supported by charity visitors from Ireland taking supplies with them. In the middle of April ’17 a load of 28 boxes weighing about 400kgs was dispatched to Nairobi from Dublin and was the charity’s first shipment by air cargo of school and personal items to support the school and the children.
St Patrick’s, Kawese, is run by Fr Paul Kamau and offers free education to all children and has now been officially linked with St Patrick’s Boys National School in Hollypark, County Dublin, Ireland. The school is renowned for its high educational standards and the plan is to extend over the coming years to accommodate 200 students.
